Kamandalu Ubud, Bali

Kamandalu Hotels & Resorts
March - April 2019

Dear *|FNAME|*,
Greetings from Kamandalu Ubud!

The months of March and April are now upon us and there are plenty of things coming up on Bali’s cultural calendar that make the island so unique. One such occasion is Nyepi or Balinese New Year, also known as the Day of Silence where all activity will come to a complete standstill. As a guest, you will be obliged to stay in the confines of the resort for a 24-hour period. Bali’s Hindu community believe that negative spirits will be discouraged from disturbing the island if it appears abandoned during Nyepi. The essence of this auspicious holiday is to reflect and recharge in preparation for the year ahead.

In other news, the village of Ubud will be in the limelight this April with two world-class events. The annual BaliSpirit Festival is expected to attract musicians, yogis, dancers and spiritual seekers from around the globe for a joyful week of non-stop activities. Similarly, the Ubud Food Festival will pay tribute to Indonesia’s diverse culinary heritage with a three-day line-up of food galore. Please feel free to ask our team for further information regarding these events..

Blissfuly Yours,

Nyepi Day Solitude   Nyepi Day Solitude
7 March 2019

Nyepi Day is Balinese New Year in accordance to an ancient calendar system and it falls annually following the dark moon of the spring equinox. Also known as Silent Day, it is a time when all activity on the island of Bali comes to a complete standstill making it the perfect opportunity to reflect on life itself. We had the wonderful pleasure of experiencing a day of profound silence during Nyepi day. We also had the fascinating appearance of the unique Fire War and Ogoh-Ogoh during Ngerupukan Day on 6 March 2019. This Fire War, unique to Kamandalu’s neighbouring village of Nagi, is a performance where men threw flaming balls of dried coconut husks at each other to symbolize driving away any demons that try to disturb peace on Bali. We are very fortunate that this Fire War of Nagi village, the only fire war you can find in Bali during Ngerupukan Day, is located at a walking distance from our resort. Our guests over the years, have truly enjoyed watching this spectacular and unique tradition that can only be found at our neighbouring village.

Amazing Escape
Sarah H, Chicago, USA on TripAdvisor

We only had the opportunity to stay at Kamandalu for one night before meeting up with a group tour. We were definitely sad to leave this incredible escape. From the unreal couples massage, to the breakfast options, so much detail goes into every aspect of this resort. Our pool Villa was worth every penny. With our own outdoor shower and swim out pool we definitely felt like we were lapping in luxury. The grounds are beautiful, clean and well marked making it easy to explore. The staff went above and beyond for my husband and I to have a great trip. You can tell the genuine care they have for each guest and it made our experience a 10/10. Will hope to return some day in the near future. Thank you Kamandalu!!!
